Did you know you can age quicker if you don’t breathe regularly or deeply enough? Over the age of
35 your diaphragm does not work as well.

Your diaphragm is a muscle that needs to have a work out to stay strong.

It is essential that we breathe properly to allow our organs to receive oxygen. Breathing also helps
your body to remove waste products and toxins.

Breathing correctly helps your brain to function and whilst concentrating on your breathing it is
stopping you from thinking about everything else that is bothering you. In turn, this will help you to
gain clarity that will help you make far better decisions.

A great daily practice would be to consciously sit down at least 5 times a day. If you can enjoy 10
rounds of a nice flow of breathe, slowly and deeply through your nose, all the way down into your
belly.

If you find this tricky, start with 3 breaths and build up one more each time you practice.

Eventually, you will naturally start to do this without even thinking as you will have trained your
body to do something it enjoys and acknowledges it feels better for it.

If you are ready to take it one step further, you could breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds,
hold your breath for 6 seconds and breathe out of your mouth for 10 seconds.

If you are thinking “I just don’t have the time for this”, I would totally sympathise with you. In the
past, I would never have allowed myself the time to relax and would find myself coming up with
every excuse. I would just say to you that I wish I had had the knowledge then instead and had given
myself a break.

Instead of finding excuses why you should not do something, perhaps you could think about when
you could fit it in. Find the gaps in your day for example when you are taking a shower, do you
spend time in the car? What about when you are waiting for the kettle to boil?

Whilst you are breathing it is important to remove any negative thoughts that pop into your head.

Push them away as this is not the time. Say to them “I will come back to you when I have completed
my breathing and feeling strong and focused”.

Remember this is your journey! Only you have the power to change your mindset and in turn your
life.
